Winter weather

We awoke this morning to very definite winter scenes,  light snow overnight turned to a major snow storm by mid morning and the world looks so different.

This is my very sad winter garden but the spring bulbs are starting to grow and brave the freezing weather.

A rather Narnia type street light at the front of the house.

This time of the year right after Christmas and at the beginning of a New Year, does make me feel somewhat nostalgic.  It is a time for reflection on all the happenings of the past year,  what I have managed to achieve and what I still would like to do.

So no more feelings of winter blues,  time to start feeling creative and make plans for the year.   I have never been very good at making or keeping New Year resolutions.   Perhaps I need to sit down and make a list of what would I like to achieve this year.

One of my goals for 2012 was to read 85 books.  I only managed 81 and perhaps I did cheat a little by adding a couple of books on beading and embroidery but I did read them from cover to cover so I am sure they do count!   So I will try again this year, who knows I might just achieve my goal and I do love reading so it is no great hardship.

My plans to walk more each day have not been very achievable this week as it has poured with rain and we are now somewhat housebound with lots of snow on the ground but the weather will improve, spring is just around the corner.   A further goal to work towards.

Lots of work during the next few weeks,  not yet stitched a bear for Hugglets but I am slowly starting to think of special creations and just need to get working.

Until next time, keep warm or cool depending on which part of the planet is your home .......

A childhood without books – that would be no childhood. That would be like being shut out from the enchanted place where you can go and find the rarest kind of joy. ~ Astrid Lindgren

Hi Wendy,I know you stay very busy sewing every season of the year with your sweet Huglets. I think the fact that you read 81 books in a year is wonderful. I have a bad habit of feeling guilty when I read. I always feel like I should be cleaning or calling my mom or something : )
Your beautiful snow and frost covered trees give and almost eerie beauty to the landscape.
I haven't been able to wish you a happy new 2013. I hope it is a wonderful year for you my friend.
sending hugs...
