Time to catch my breath ....................

Perhaps time for a celebration or just time to catch my breath before the next hurdle.   I have at last completed the four little bears ordered some weeks (or dare I say months) ago.   Once again all that embroidery and fine knitting  tends to take time but oh the joy to have four little creations sitting on my work table just waiting to be parcelled up and posted across the world.

My new pattern has proved very popular  -   time to introduce the latest little bears to the world....

Lily Rose

Noah

Anouk

and

Barnabas

Sometimes it is good to have a break from bear making and I managed to complete the rose embroidered pincushion and make a matching scissor keep.    I used pure silk vintage thread for the free style embroidery which I stitched on fine linen.    As the pincushion looked a little plain I added vintage lace and beads.   There is a lesson to be learned when making hand crafted items, don't be tempted to buy low priced supplies.   It took time and patience to weed out all the misshapen and damaged beads from the pretty pink beads used for the bead edging.   Fortunately the bead embroidered edging does not require perfectly shaped beads.   Something for our Etsy shop at last.

Now it is time to get stitching for the Friends of Teddy on line show.   An opportunity to have a break from just bears and experiment with some other tiny creations,  something different to share soon.

After the wettest 'drought' I have ever experienced there are moves to lift the housepipe ban.   Our recent purchase of a rain water tank has proved its worth but there is the problem of where on earth to store all the surplus water.     The garden looks so pretty, still early for the flowering shrubs but I cannot believe the difference in the garden, sadly the weeds are growing apace.   I bought a packet of wild flower seeds from the 99p shop last year and was interested to discover carrots, fennel and thyme growing amongst the flowers! I cannot believe that it is mid June and the Summer Solstice is just around the corner.

I had great plans to get up early for a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness the Venus Transit earlier this month, weather permitting of course.    Unfortunately 'tho it turned into a fine morning I slept a little late so missed the event and have had to make do with viewing some of the spectacular pictures available on the internet and APOD.   The next Venus Transit is some 105 years away!

Until next time .......

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.  ~John Lubbock
