Summer Solstice

Today in the northern hemisphere we celebrate the summer solstice, the first day of summer and the longest day of the year.

It is a wonderful summer day and as I do not have any bear pictures to share, perhaps some of the garden will do ........

A beautiful miniature standard rose

pretty pink shaded geraniums

A bright orange poppy grown from seed which I 'salvaged' from the field across the road .....

a 'wild flower' corner of the garden. Tiny violas or hearts-ease which have seeded themselves under the crab apple tree.

The flourishing tomato plants in the green house...

A special find, the tiniest off white and brown eggshell fragments under one of the trees.   Fragile and extremely thin, I found that it was several halves all fitted inside one another.     Cannot believe how tiny the Wren hatchlings would be.

I am busy working on my pieces for the on line show, making slow progress but still lots to do.   Pictures to share soon.

Each fairy breath of summer, as it blows with loveliness, inspires the blushing rose.  ~Author Unknown
